A Crisis

So, it appears as if there is really something going on with this dead Archduke.  The Austrians have suddenly been acting as if they want to go to war, holding a council in Potsdam with their allies.  Most recently, there have been reports of The possibility of Serbian attacks upon the Austro-Hungarian delegation in Belgrade.  The Austrians appear to want war.  Austrian newspapers are also publishing news that the Serbians are behind th killings, and they seem quite interested in war as well.

In the US, apparently John D. Rockefeller, the owner of Standard Oil was killed by a bomb.  Apparently, Anarchists did it, and, on the 7th, they were killed in a shoot-out with the New York Police.  Yesterday, people gathered in Times Square to commemorate the dead anarchists, however, counterprotesters arrived and made the place a massive fistfight.  Apparently, there is anarchist and anti-anarchist violence all over America.

Also yesterday, the Government of Ireland Bill was passed.  Apparently, Ulster will. Otw on whether it wants to participate in the Irish government.

July 5, 1914

Franz Ferdinands funeral occurred today.  From what I hear, the funeral occurred at the Artstetten Castle, which is actually the property of Franz' wifes family.  From what i've heard, the Court Chamberlain, who disliked the low status of Sophie, prohibited her children from attending their parents funeral.  With the Kaiser also not attending, it seems as if it was somewhat of a mess of an event.  But, with nothing happening yet, I cant imagine much will come of this incident.

July 1-July 2, 1914

Well, not much has been occurring lately.  Anyway, it appears Franz Ferdinands and his wife's funeral will be occurring tomorrow, and today the Kaiser announced he wont be attending.  Is that some sort of political statement?  Is he showing non-support for Austria-Hungary, or just not attending because he has something else to do?

July 1, 1914

Nothing much has happened today.  It seems we are waiting for some sort of response by the Austro-Hungarian government.  What sort of response it will be, I do not know.  It does seem as if this is a cassus-belli, of sorts, and that if the Austro-Hungarians wished to invade, they would be more than justified.
